In 2014, she was a session vocalist preparing for tour; then a doctor found cancer in her thyroid. After surviving two
surgeries that left her voice paralyzed, she became a full time listener.
Over 5 years of daily, vigilant healing, she regained the ability to make sound with one functioning vocal cord.
In 2019, Saint Mercedes debuted centerstage at the 25th Annual Essence Festival.
